Mid-range phones are the butt of many jokes around the Android circles, but there is large market for them and, let’s face it, a lot of people don’t need or use a top of the line phone. The good thing for the mid-level crowd is that with each top of the line hardware upgrade, the perception of what a high-end vs low-end device should be changes proportionally

Verizon has great news for those of you out there still rocking a Motorola Droid 2, as you should find an OTA update (v4.5.621) weighing in at 14MB, that will install some bug fixes. Imagine you bought something very expensive and then decided to sell it before you ever really had a chance to take it for a spin. That’s what Google is supposedly considering according to the Wall Street Journal.

WSJ: Google considering selling Motorola to Huawei…bad or smart move?
The HTC Rezound on Verizon Wireless is often overlooked by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola DROID RAZR/DROID RAZR MAXX, even though it really should not be. It sports a high-end 720p resolution 4.3 inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and 1GB of RAM. In addition, it boasts Android 2.3 (with a promised Android 4.0 upgrade ), 8MP rear facing camera, 16GB of storage space, Beats Audio integration, Beats earbuds included, and 4G LTE connectivity

When the HTC Rezound, Motorola DROID RAZR, and Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX each launched, the only real disappointment was the fact that it would run Android 2.3 out of the box, and not the highly anticipated Android 4.0. At the time of launch, Verizon reminded consumers that an upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich will take place soon. Back on March 6th, Verizon Wireless revealed exactly which phones in its lineup would receive the upgrade but did not announce a possible roll-out date
